I know this message is late but when I read this today, it brought great sorrow to my heart. Mr. Campbell was probably left the largest imprint on my life other than my parents. Those years at Ripley High shaped and molded my life in ways that people cannot possibly know. Mr. Campbell knew how to bring out the best in each and every student he touched. He carried a small town band to heights that never should have been possible. Our band was the talk of the town and far beyond. He not only taught me how to be a musician, but most importantly how to be a good human being. He did not see colors of people, rich or poor, he only saw individuals that he led to be better people and to reach their fullest potential. He was willing to help guide and inspire anyone that was open to his leadership. He commanded excellence and respect, and I for one strove to give him the respect and admiration he deserved while his student and throughout my life. I still today serve as a high school band visual and musical instructor and teach the same basic fundamentals that I was taught by Mr. Campbell. There were none better at his craft than he. The world has lost an amazing person, incredible leader, steward of people, and most importantly, I have lost my greatest mentor. Rest In Peace Mr. Campbell and my sincerest condolences to Ms. Linda, Tim, and Courtney.
