November 14, 1938 - November 3, 2025
Douglas Lee Benham, 86, of Cumming, Georgia, won his final earthly battle on November 03, 2025. Having beaten cancer 15 years earlier, Doug lived each day with a deep understanding of the power of purpose, competence, and community. He believed that lifes challenges could forge strength and wisdom that being part of something greater than oneself, maintaining useful skills, and cultivating genuine relationships worked together to create the resilience to stand tall through every trial. Doug was a devout Christian, a dutiful son, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and always a role model, mentor, and confidant to his two brothers and three sisters. To his nieces and nephews, he was nothing short of a hero. A true friend to every neighbor, Doug was always ready to lend his expert handyman skills to any project that appeared on a friends honey-do list. Few could match his warmth, generosity, or competitive spirit especially in the neighborhoods legendary water volleyball tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Walther junior and Lucile; his brother, Jack; his sisters, Laverne and Gail; and his beloved grandniece, Grace Caroline White. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carol McLain Benham; his daughter, Sherri; and his grandchildren, Aura Lee, Megan Lynn, and Joseph Douglas. He also leaves behind his brother, Lamon; his sister, Lois; as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends who will cherish his memory. Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 10:30 AM until the Memorial Service at 11:30 AM at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015.
