Brenda Joyce Hurst Mathis, 76, of Union, KY, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Belleview Baptist Church in Burlington, KY. Brenda worked for many years as an advertisement representative with the Boone County Recorder. She loved spending time with children. Brenda was a childcare provider for the Union Learning Center in Union, KY. She ended her career as a cafeteria worker with Shirley Mann Elementary in Union, KY. Brenda loved finding treasures while antiquing and shopping at yard sales. She was preceded in death by her father: James Hurst; mother: Nellie Hurst; brother: Jimmy Hurst; sister: Janet (Poodle) Coyle and son: Dennis Joseph Mathis, II. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years: Denny Mathis; children: Brian (Becky) McIntosh and Steven McIntosh; sisters: Judy (Elbert) Petrey and Gayle Browning; 1 grandson; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. Interment will follow at Union-Rice Cemetery in Union, KY. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society c/o cancer.org.
