Michael Norman Arlinghaus, “Mike”, 82, of Richwood, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026. Growing up in Edgewood, Kentucky, he attended Holy Guardian Angels grade school and Covington Catholic High School.  A dedicated and hardworking provider for his family, he often worked nights, weekends, and overtime to ensure they were cared for. He spent his career working at the Fisher Body plant in Fairfield, Ohio, as a tool and die maker, ultimately retiring from General Motors in 1995. Known affectionately as "Ironman Mike," he also spent time installing gas lines for Arlinghaus Builders. At six years old, he dabbled in hair cutting on the roof of the barn. Beyond his career, he loved hunting, fast cars, coin collecting, playing cards, and cheating at cards. He loved taking 5-mile hikes, generously shared his time with the community as a boy scout leader, and was always willing to give rides to hitchhikers. He loved shooting rifles, blowing things up with his grandchildren, Mt. Dew and Burger King. Mike’s Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life, despite having a lead foot and allegedly changing speed limit signs on Dudley Pike to get out of a speeding ticket. He never missed Mass on Sunday and was deeply devoted to promoting the Rosary and wearing the Brown Scapular. He was well fortified with absolution, Extreme Unction and the Apostolic Blessing, and died wearing the Brown Scapular and Miraculous Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents: Norman and Ruth Arlinghaus; grandson: Derrick Arlinghaus; great-grandson: Anthony Arlinghaus.  Mike is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Diane Arlinghaus; children: Anthony Arlinghaus, Brian Arlinghaus, Michelle Arlinghaus, Angela Carrillo and Jenny Vance; 13 siblings: Kathleen Chitkara, Barbara Ellison, Joseph Arlinghaus, Ted Arlinghaus, Anne Gripshover, David Arlinghaus, Mary Broughton, Daniel Arlinghaus, Gina Gripshover, Ruthann Barth, Patrick Arlinghaus, Lori Weber and Krista Kahmann; 18 grandchildren: Anthony Scott, Brittany Nicole, Courtney Renee, Gina Marie, Michael James, Patrick Joseph, Brian Nicholas, Jonathon Aloysius, William Joseph, Samuel Pasqual, Isabella Amelia, Vincent Alexander, Joseph Michael, Anthony Bernardino, Tyler Lee, Victoria Lynn, Charlotte Lynn & Tobias Lee; several great-grandchildren and a few hundred nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 3:30PM until the public Rosary at 7:00PM at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015.  A Traditional Requiem Mass will be offered on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 10:30AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 2310 Robertson Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45212.  Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery – Wilder, 1309 John’s Hill Road, Wilder, KY 41076.  Memorials are suggested to: Masses for Michael Arlinghaus, c/o Diane Arlinghaus, 8422 Batavia Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45244.  Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015 is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at www.connleybrothersfuneralhome.com
