My daughter and I loved our “Merley Girly” and missed her terribly when she moved North. She was one of my best friends and looked out for us- waaay more than we did her!
Merle was kind, gentle, strong and so gracious. They don’t make them like that anymore! We will miss her positive charm, sense of humor, her cooking and ability to make the roses bloom. She cheered us on in all our endeavors and picked us up when we experienced disappointments. Never one to wallow in self-pity, Merle made the best of every trying thing and found the silver linings.
I could share hundreds of funny little stories and take over this tribute page, just telling you how much she meant to us. I will summarize by saying, she made Leeann and I better women and we thank God for bringing her to us. I know there is a happy, heavenly homecoming going on right now and she is surely catching up with her beloved daughter! It is so sad that we can’t see and talk to her in the here and now, but you can’t destroy energy. Merle’s influence and love will live on in all of us.
God Bless her lovely family and grieve well. She’d want you to shed your tears, remember all the things she taught by example and then get on with the business of living. Keep the faith and count your blessings! Merle is free and with Our Lord. It will be easier for her to keep an eye on everyone from her new digs.
With much sympathy and prayers,
Kim Guffey
