Pat & Sharon Hickey

Sharon and I would like to thank everyone who has called
us since Monday night. Dave was at our home on Saturday
the 26th talking sports with Sharon (an inveterate Reds fan).
When he left he waved to us and said have a happy
Memorial Day!! My brother was a kind, modest guy who
would never brag about his sports accomplishments. He
said that being a good Christian, Husband, Father and
Grandfather was all that mattered. For the benefit of Dave’s
children; grandchildren; and all the nieces and nephews, I want them to know about some of his earlier sports accomplishments;
1965-played basketball with one of the best teams from
Northern Ky, they went to the final game of the State Finals
that year but lost to Butch Beard/Breckingridge County; he
went to Creighton University on basketball scholarship where
he played against best teams and players- Lou Alcinder etc;
he was induced into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of
Fame; and in 2006 the Cincinnati Enquirer featured the
results of a poll taken from coaches, sports writers, that listed the top 100 Boys Basketball Players of all time from
Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky area-Dave was # 62.
But most of all, Sharon and I will miss his weekly visits and
companionship. Saturday at 2:00 p.m. will be a celebration
of Dave’s life. I hope everyone can make this Mass and
join in with Our Family and the many friends; in remembrance of this great guy.
With everlasting thanks, love and gratitude to all
Sharon and Patrick Hickey
