Albert Edward Murnan, 72, passed away at home in Covington, KY, on July 6, 2018. Al was born February 19, 1946, in Cincinnati, OH. Formerly a self-employed roofer, Al was known for his outstanding work ethic, knowledge, and talent; there wasn’t a task or project that he didn’t master and complete. Later in life, he became the building maintenance manager of Michel Tire stores, under the ownership of Tony Michel, and lastly, following Tony’s recommendation, he found his final passion for work and renewed faith at St. Boniface Church in Northside where he eventually retired. Al was never “just an employee”, he was always personally invested and quickly became a friend. Known to most as ‘Al’ or ‘Pap’, he was a family man, always sharing stories and advice, helping with home projects, and browsing estate sales, auctions, and flea markets, in search of bargains and lost treasures. An avid outdoorsman, he loved sharing his passion for hunting and fishing, as well as wandering wooded areas with his beloved chocolate labs, Hershey and Piney ‘Miss Murnan’. His enthusiasm for sports included cheering on his grandkids, watching local sports teams, and following the “ponies” at the racetrack. Al left an impression everywhere he went with his enthusiasm, quirky smile, and his famous parting, “have a wonderful”. His strength and positive outlook never faltered, even when it became apparent he was not winning his battle against leukemia and lymphoma. Al is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Viola (Hamburg) Murnan and his step-daughter, Tracy Chasteen Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Diane Huddleston Chasteen Murnan; his daughters, Christi (Chuck) Ralston, Cyndy (Kelly) Bollmer, and Nikki (Jeff) Callaway; his step-son, Casey Chasteen; his grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Vargo, CJ (Brandi) Ralston, Chris Ralston, Jessica Callaway (Keith), Sam Callaway, Zach Callaway, Henry Bollmer, Billy Bollmer, Kelsey Thompson, and Jessie Rae Thompson; his great-grandchildren, Jacob Hejduk, Braiden and Kyla Ralston, and Demond and Eli Wells; his brothers, Father Sean Murnan OFM, Mark (Cheryl) Murnan and Michael Murnan; his sisters, Sue (Ron) Spohr and Mary Murnan; his former wife, Mary (Bill) Reeves; and a host of extended family and friends. Al made arrangements for his body to be donated to the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, for education and research with hopes of improving future treatments and the future of medicine. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Boniface Church, 1750 Chase Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Miami Township Administration Office, Community Center located at 3780 Shady Lane, North Bend, OH 45052. Memorial donations in memory of Albert Murnan can be made to: Oncology Hematology Care, Inc., 4777 E. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236 or Hospice of the Bluegrass Northern Kentucky, 7388 Turfway Road, Florence, KY 41042.
