We were all saddened to hear of Fr Heitzman’s passing. Fr Heitzman was a good friend of our close friend Fr Lawrence Keller . If you met Fr Heitzman you knew him, affable, friendly and holy. In fact Fr Keller always said that Fr Heitzman “ was the holiest priest” that he knew. Not sure that anything better can be said about him. This greatest generation are dwindling quickly, they really can’t be replaced. May God bless The soul of Fr Heitzman. He certainly has blessed his life.

I am so sorry to hear of Father Heitzman death. He was a devoted priest and teacher to many including me and my classmates in the CCH class of 1961. He had a great impact on all of us. He was a beautiful example of the priesthood and living a Christian life. I have a saint to pray for me in Fr. Heitzman.

I met Father Jack on the Covington Fire Department. He renewed our vows on our12th anniversary and he did the service at my wife’s funeral. Jack was a very kind and compassionate man. Everyone will miss him.

I grew up knowing Father Heitzman at Sacred Heart in Corbin and he left when a was a Senior in High School. He set a high standard for Priests and has been my all time favorite. My faith developed and grew based on his example and teaching.

I had the greatest privilege of being the kindergarten teacher at St. Therese School for 15 years with Fr. Heitzman. He never missed the opportunity to announce and welcome kindergarten to every mass we would attend. He always made a special effort to visit our classroom regularly and ask if we were learning anything and then always give us a blessing. If he pulled in or out of his driveway when we were playing outside, Father always rolled down his window and stopped. The children would rush over to his car, and he would be all smiles and laughs. Smiles and laughs were his message of the love of Christ we should all embrace. I will always remember what Father said at one mass we attended. I can still hear him saying it… “Everything we do is for the love of Christ.” I will miss this wonderful man. I love him deeply. Father supported me in many ways as a teacher and as a friend. He made me a better person for having known him, and he will always remain in my heart.

Father was a wonderful priest, a great role model. He always had time to listen and provide counsel and assistance. He was a priest of honor and holiness. I wish the seminaries were filled with men such as Father Heitzman. Now Father is at peace. Heaven is blessed.

Fr. Heitzman was one of the most saint-like people I have ever known. He always saw the good in people regardless of circumstances. And I could never say no to whatever he asked. A true loss for us, the good Lord has fully embraced him. God speed, Father.
