Douglas Thomas Vogelsang, 96, formerly of Latonia, KY, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his son's residence in Versailles, KY. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Parish in Latonia, KY. Doug was a middle school teacher at Holy Cross School for several years and had a special love for teaching. He was active in many ministries with Holy Cross Parish and served as their self-appointed handyman. Doug entered the Trappist Monastery of Gethsemani in 1949 and went on to become a self-employed business owner. Doug was a part of many activities in his children's lives and gave to many charities. He was a knothole baseball coach and enjoyed hiking with his family. Doug was preceded in death by his parents: Stanley and Mildred Vogelsang and siblings: Mary Jean (Mike) Kennedy, Therese Urlage, Jack (Libby) Vogelsang and George (Mary Lou) Vogelsang. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years: Mary Diane Timmerding Vogelsang; sons: Steve (Cindy) Vogelsang and Andrew (Connie Bertram) Vogelsang; grandchildren: Kathryn (George Hall) Vogelsang, Kevin Vogelsang, Daniel (Katherine) Vogelsang, Therese Vogelsang, Michael Vogelsang, Emma Vogelsang, Bennett Vogelsang, Wil Vogelsang, John Vogelsang, Adair Bertram Sand, Mitchell Bertram Sand; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. Inurnment will follow at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, KY. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Church Building Fund, 3612 Church Street, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015.
