Gilbert James Benson, Sr., 79, of Perry Park, KY passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. He was a retired Postal Worker and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Gilbert was a member of the Covington Turner’s and American Legion Post #0041 in Carrollton, KY. He loved to fish golf balls out of the lakes, gamble on horses, dancing and singing. Gilbert was preceded in death by his Parents: Gilbert and Evelny Benson; Sister: Peggy Feldman and Brother: Roger Benson. Gilbert is survived by his Companion: Shirley Sharp; Daughters: Barb (Paul) Blasch, Carol (Lee) Breth, Paula Sharp and Donna Clark; Sons: Gilbert (Liz) Benson, Jr., Timothy Benson and Paul Sharp; 9 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Janet (Larry) Sowders, Gloria Faye, Carol Benson and Betty Burke; Brothers: Rich (Karen) Benson and Bobby (Kathy) Benson; Sister-In-Law: Bonnie Benson and Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Ron Bucher and I visited Gil last Aug at his home in Perry Park. It was great to see Gil after so many years. He was in good spirits and seemed very happy. We have lots of fond memories of Gil at Turners and at the family home on Bakewell. Nothing but nice things to say about Gil and his family. TJ Burke
