John Charles Kohne, 79 of Independence, KY passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. John was a member of Holy Cross Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Cursillo Movement. He was a retired yardmaster for CNO railroad and a retired cabinet maker. John was a knothole baseball coach and a family counselor director at Lakeside Park Nursing Home. He was a dedicated teacher for 1st grade CCD religion and 4H woodworking. John was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Bertha Kohne; brother: George Kohne and sister: Carol Kohne. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: Donna Sue Kohne; children: Theresa (Herb) Moore, Tim (Luatani) Kohne, Barbara (David) Smith; sister: Mary (Tom) Gosney; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM followed by a prayer, rosary service and eulogy at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM (Noon) at the church. Burial will follow at Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright, KY. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to Holy Cross Church (in the form of masses) or to the Kidney Foundation c/o kidney.org.
