John Dennis Perkins was born to Albert Perkins and Ola Mae Perkins on August 23, 1946, and was the third of four sons. He was raised in California, KY where he graduated from Campbell County High School. Upon graduation he took a job at Kenner Toy Company until joining the US Navy in 1967. Upon discharge he took a job at L&N Railroad until 1994 and later spent many years working as a driver and manager at Avis Rent-A-Car. In 1973, he met the love of his life, Connie Sue Blackburn, and they married the following year. Despite many hardships over the years, he made many sacrifices to ensure his children, Emily, John, Joseph, and Kathleen received a Catholic education. He was deeply involved with his children's and grandchildren's schools (Holy Cross, St. Anthony & Latonia Elementary) including numerous hours of volunteer work as PTO President, organizing and implementing overnight cleanup programs, and cafeteria work. All four of his children received a Catholic education in part to his sacrifices and volunteer work performed. His grandchild, Krystin, was born in 2000, Abigail in 2005, Johnathan in 2016, and Christina 2019. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Kenny, Jerry, and Frank. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; his children Emily Turner (Jerry), John, Joseph (Jennifer), and Kathleen; his grandchildren, Krystin, Abigail, Johnathan, and Christina. He's set an example as a husband and father that may never be matched. He is deeply loved and cherished, and will be greatly missed.
Please join friends and family to celebrate John's life at American Legion Post # 203 3801 Winston Ave, Latonia, KY 41015 on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12pm for a Memorial Service followed immediately by a gathering for food and shared memories until 4pm. Oh Johnny, the good Lord called our little girl Emily Mae home on August 01, 2022. I was hoping I would be joining you before one of our children, but God has his plans and I should not question them. But she is with God now, has both of her legs and no longer in pain. We are all heart broken over losing Em but I do have comfort knowing she is in heaven with God and you. It's like when the kids were younger and we had to split up to take them to an event. I would have two going one way and you would have the other two going another way, I never worried about the two I didn't have with me because they were with you, their daddy. So darlin you have her now and I have the other three and we will meet back together once this earthly life is over. John, Joseph, Kathleen and I love you both very much and think of you every day. Until we are together again dance, laugh and enjoy your ever lasting life. All my love, Mom.

I remember seeing Mr.Perkins and Mrs. Perkins at a restaurant a few months ago. They both remembered me and asked how I was doing. I remember he always had a smile on his face. He will be missed very much. Fly high Mr.Perkins. you were a wonderful person.
