Mary Jane Knasel, 81, of Independence, KY passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 11, 2021. She was born in Ludlow, KY on December 22, 1939 and was a resident of Latonia, KY from 1949-2005 where she volunteered for the Latonia Youth Club. Mary Jane was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Latonia, KY where she was very active in both the parish and school. She was a 1957 graduate of Holmes High School and a Kentucky Colonel. Mary Jane was awarded Mrs. YMCA in Covington, KY in 1986 and was on the board of directors with the Campbell County, KY YMCA. She was also on the board of trustees of Hide-A-Way Hills Campground in Owenton, KY. Mary Jane was also manager of the "Jim Dandies" softball teams. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years: James "Jim" B. Knasel; children: Debbie Brinkman, James (Shirley) Knasel II, Tammy (Fritz) Meyer; siblings: Jean (Lou) Moeves, Fiddler Vastine, Martha Vastine; grandchildren: Kristy, Paul, Julie, Michael, Bo, Mitch, Nicole, and Joey; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Latonia, KY. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, KY. Memorials in Mary Jane's name are suggested to The Barracks Project c/o the barracksproject.org. Mary Jane was one of a kind. She had a great laugh and quick-witted sense of humor. She had a heart for forgiveness and much love. What a wonderful family she had who loved her dearly. May you all be comforted by the fact she is in the Lord's loving arms. She will be greatly missed.

Aunt Mary Jane always brought a smile to my face. I will always remember the deep love and respect that she and Uncle Jim shared. I have many fond memories that will be cherished forever. Some of the best memories and times I had as a young girl and teenager was being a part of the "Jim Dandies" and having Mary Jane & Jim in my life.
