As I think of Maxine, a smile comes to my face. What a beautiful lady! She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
And, what a giving person. She and her beloved Lefty were instrumental in beginning the annual Christmas gathering for residents of what is currently Rosedale Green. They also had involvement with Mooseheart in the Chicago area. That was what personified Maxine always caring and helpful.
I remember her humorous side too. I recall times when she didn’t hesitate to tell someone to GO POUND SALT if she didn’t like what you did.
Among my most vivid memories are younger days when she and Lefty would show us how to dance. Jitterbug they could and the greatest part was when he ‘dipped’ her.
Then there was her singing. My how she enjoyed the old southern country songs. In the recent years, she was always happy when Marie or someone would persuade her to sing IN THE PINES.
These are just a few of my remembrances of beautiful Maxine. In these last few years when we know she seemed to struggle at times, I would look into her eyes and Maxine was right there. It was difficult for those of us on the outside looking in on her world, but my consolation is that wherever she was she was happy. That was our Maxine.
We know that right now she’s enjoying the reunion with Lefty and her family. We will miss her and remember her always. May peace be with her, Bill, Bryan and the O’Brien and Morris families.
