"Groaner," Pleasure Isle, of course,:o) was a swimming pool, not a "pook." I are an English major...

Dick, "Schmaltz" here. Just want to say that you were a great guy and a loyal friend at St. Ben's and Covington Catholic. You were the "glue" that held our Class of '54 together and informed during our "senior" years. You were highly respected as an exemplary naval reservist at our old Covington Naval Reserve Unit 5-29 at Third and Philadelphia. I shall personally miss your informative emails with luncheon alerts, humor, clarifying facts and yes, sincere personal opinions to keep us on the straight and narrow. And, I shall never forget our self-inflicted bicycle trip from Latonia to Pleasure Isle swimming pook and back on the day after our eighth grade graduation. I was sure to be in deep trouble upon returning home until Mom asked, "Who were you with" and I said Dick Grone. Her immediate "Then it's okay" let me know once and for all how she felt about you and our friendship. You were special and always will be..."with a spirit that will never die." Rest in peace, dear classmate.
