Leave a message of condolence

Sara W. Manis, age 80 of Fort Wright, KY, as she had prayed, she died peacefully in the comfort of her home on February 16, 2013, surrounded by family members. Always an avid author, reader and traveler, her most lasting and certainly most fulfilling accomplishment in life was becoming a Benedictine Oblate. She first became an oblate with the Sisters of St. Benedict, Ferdinand, Indiana under the loving care and guidance of Sister Sylvia Gehlhausen. After moving to Kentucky, and no longer able to travel, she joined the St. Walburg Oblates in Villa Hills, Kentucky. Her favorite hours during the last years were those spent at St. Walburg – attending mass, enjoying exercise class, and visiting with the Sisters in the Infirmary. Sara always felt that being an Oblate deepened her faith, enriched her life, and brought her spiritual walk much closer to God. Her goal in life was to leave the world a better place, and she rejoiced in being a blessing to many others whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter Betty and son-in-law Don, a sister Louise (Larry) Brockman in Colorado, a brother Foster (Janice) Watkins in Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Parish in Crescent Springs, KY on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10 AM until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. A private burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Walburg Monastery 2500 Amsterdam Rd. Villa Hills, KY 41017 and/or Hospice of the Bluegrass 7388 Turfway Rd. #202 Florence, KY 41042, in honor of all those who provided extraordinary level of care and support in her last two years of life on this earth.
