The family of Stephen James Rufo, Jr., 36, of Lakeland, FL, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was a cherished son, brother and friend. Born and raised in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Stephen was an avid athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football during his childhood. A proud graduate of Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, Florida, class of 2008, he was a member of the Varsity baseball team. Stephen held various jobs but found his true passion in cooking, dreaming of becoming a chef. Known for his infectious humor, Stephen could make anyone laugh, a true superpower that endeared him to many. Stephen's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A celebration of his life will be announced in the short future. He is survived by his mother: Maryann Rufo; father: Stephen James Rufo, Sr.; brothers: Joseph (Destiny) Rufo, (and their daughters: Ryleigh and Chloe) and Michael Rufo. Stephen was an amazing friend. We met through publix warehouse where we worked together. He was the life of the party for sure. He will be truly missed by his publix family. Rest easy my dear friend.
