William Joseph Viars

May 7, 1948 - July 7, 2021

William "Bill" Joseph Viars, 73, of Covington, KY passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. He was a retired Railroad Engineer with CSX and Local Union President. Bill was a graduate of Thomas More University, a Newport High School Athletic Hall of Famer and a Regional Council Member of Northern Kentucky A.A.. He was preceded in death by his son: Keith William Viars; sister: Mary Viars and grandson: Keifer Lee Viars. Bill is survived by his daughters: Kelly Viars and Heather (Corey Slais) Viars; brother: Charlie Viars; and he was "Beloved Papa Bill" to 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015 from 4:00 PM until the Memorial Service at 6:00 PM. Bill was so much to me and to so many others. He was my running buddy to meetings and we talked almost every day. Bill will be missed but never forgotten. He was such a sweet man.
